Baltasar Banquells (January 1, 1872) was a prominent Spanish film and theatre director, screenwriter, and actor who made significant contributions to the Spanish cinema industry during the silent era.

Born at the turn of the 20th century, Banquells began his career in theatre before transitioning to films in the late 1910s. He is particularly known for directing iconic films like "La verbena de la Paloma" (1926) and "La violetta de los pobres" (1932).
